Creative Cubs & the Arts
Visual and Performing Arts
At the Louis Armstrong School, our children are immersed and exposed to the arts in a variety of ways.
Children work closely with our visual arts and music teachers to learn about the history of art, for inspiration and appreciation, while also working toward creating their own works.
Our scholars work on learning from model pieces, while also generating original ideas, testing different approaches, collaborating with their peers, incorporating feedback, and building resilience as they move towards creating works of art that could be shared with the community at large.
We have also forged partnerships with Artist Year, Carnegie Hall, CASA, Inside Broadway, and Disney to enhance experiences and multiple means of exposure.
Theater
Our Theater Program brings the magic of storytelling to life, offering students an immersive experience in acting, stage production, and performance.
Through our exciting partnership with Disney, we provide high-quality theater instruction, allowing students to develop their creativity, confidence, and communication skills.
Our program not only nurtures a love for the performing arts but also integrates language development, collaboration, and critical thinking, making it a powerful tool for academic and personal growth.
Each year, our students take the stage in Disney productions such as The Lion King and Aladdin, showcasing their talent and hard work in unforgettable performances. Beyond the classroom, students also have the unique opportunity to visit Broadway, experiencing professional theater firsthand and deepening their appreciation for the arts. Through this program, we inspire the next generation of performers while enriching their learning in a truly engaging and meaningful way.
Dance
Students learn a variety of dance styles from diverse cultures, exploring traditional, contemporary, and global influences.
Through structured instruction, they develop skills in rhythm, coordination, and performance, while also building confidence and teamwork.
As part of our Dance Ensembles, students prepare for exciting performances for their families, showcasing their hard work and creativity. Whether learning Latin, African, ballet, hip-hop, or other styles, students gain a deeper appreciation for the art of dance while embracing cultural diversity. Our program fosters a love for movement and self-expression, creating a vibrant and inclusive space for all dancers to shine!
Music
Our Music Program provides students with a rich and immersive experience, fostering a love for music while building essential skills in rhythm, melody, and performance.
Students are exposed to a variety of musical instruments and styles, exploring genres from classical and jazz to world music and contemporary compositions.
Through hands-on learning, they develop an appreciation for different cultures and musical traditions.
Throughout the year, students prepare for our Winter and Spring Concerts, where they showcase their talents for peers and families. These performances highlight their growth and celebrate their dedication to the arts. Art
Our Art Program nurtures creativity, self-expression, and artistic skill through a variety of hands-on experiences.
Students explore different art techniques, mediums, and cultural art styles. They learn to analyze and appreciate artwork while developing their own unique artistic voices.
Throughout the year, students create individual and collaborative projects that showcase their creativity and growth.
